Zhengzhou - day 5-6
I promise I know how to blog but without a computer it is a little harder. the ipad just likes to put things where it wants to!!
Day5-We had to wake Mia up this morning for a meeting. She slept all night... 10 hours. She went down great and didn't make a peep all night! We had several meetings all dealing with Mia's passport. We had to have her picture made and fill out all of the forms. She did good. After a busy day we took her swimming. She loved it. I think she could have stayed all night. Mia did not go down quite as well tonight. She kept walking over to our bed and laying her head down! She is used to sleeping with her foster mom :(! We let her lay down to see what she would do and it took her about 30 seconds to go to sleep. I was really thinking it would not be a good night since after she fell asleep I laid her in her crib but 12 hours later she woke up as happy as could be. She is starting to show her temper lately. I guess she is getting comfortable with us! She likes to throw her hands around and scream when she doesn't get her way. We will have to work on that. She usually has such a sweet personality and is really starting to feel comfortable with us. She laughs and plays and eats so much better than I thought she would. She can and will eat anything. We are thinking either her cleft palate isn't that bad or it might have been partially repaired.
Day6- Today was a free day. We woke up and ate our yummy meal for the day :)! Then we went to the park down the road with another family in our group. This park was neat. Thankfully it had some shade since it was nearing 100 degrees. I brought a pouch for her to ride in but it is so hot we had to buy a stroller. She liked the park. There were some carnival rides and she really enjoyed them. On the way back a Chinese girl kept following us and continued to say something in Chinese that of course we didn't understand! She just stared and stared at me. Craig tried to show her his badge that explains why we are here but she wouldn't look at it....just continued to stare at me and talk. I gave her a bottle of water and told her bye but she kept following us all the way to the hotel. Once we got there she followed us in so we went to the front desk and they made her leave. I asked the hotel staff what she wanted and they said something was wrong with her but she wanted our baby and my money pouch. Other than that we have felt very safe. Most people are interested in what we are doing. Our guide said that they don't understand why we would want to adopt because they could never afford to take in another child. She said it does not upset them though. Most everyone is very very friendly! When we go out it is very chaotic. The driving is crazy! There are so many cars, scooters and bicycles. They really are everywhere and I am pretty sure there are no driving rules except when you hear a horn watch out! I can't believe we haven't seen a wreck yet. Well except for a bicycle and a scooter!
Something else that is really different here is that most babies don't wear diapers at all. They just squat in the street when they need to use the restroom. Maybe that is why it is so stinky everywhere! Craig told me that we could save money on diapers while we are here...no thank you!
Tonight our guides took us to a local restaurant and helped us to order. I don't guess we needed much help since we ordered fried rice. The bowl was so big that all 3 of us ate from it and I am pretty sure Mia ate as much as us.
